Counseling for the Human Spirit

WHO.jpg
Hi, I'm Nancy Walker
And I want to help you
find your heart

Time after time, over the more than ten years that I have been in private practice, I have experienced  counseling's ability to support clients in finding their authentic selves and transforming their lives.

I know what it is to struggle; to feel lost, in transition, experience emotional confusion, conflict, or to look for life's meaning. I also know JOY.

Its about knowing who I am at my core and being able to feel trust when I find myself standing in messiness, instability or the mystery of not knowing. For me, that trust equals love equals joy.

Using her clarity of insight as much as her ready humor, Nancy asks thoughtful questions and employs a number of creative processes that lead me deeper in the process of discovery.
She is warm, caring and committed, always deeply interested in whatever is going on with me.
I trusted her immediately!

The diverse and extensive training that I have undertaken, as well as my clinical work as a counselor, have had a life transforming quality on me. They have served me not only as a path of professional and self knowledge, but also as a path of personal and spiritual development.

They have blessed me with tools to initiate growth and offer healing. They have grown my understanding of what it is to be a human being. They have revealed a host of inner resources that serve to inform and guide my way. They have  prepared me to  meet another in their uniqueness and bear witness to their wholeness, even when they can not.

I've read innumerable books, studied hard, researched deeply and toiled over papers—but the real transformation has come through my own inner work. Working with a counselor made it safe and laid the groundwork for the encounter with myself. It asked me to open up and be willing to not know. It brought

light to the question Who am I? Who was asking and who was answering? It was the beginning of the now ongoing conversation between me and my Self.

In feeling, it led me to my heart-- a heart that knows.  It gave me a place to stand, at the center of my being.

I want to offer that to you too.

What I LOVE about the work I do is that it IS effective.

Nancy's open, intuitive, and compassionate style immediately put me at ease.
She enabled me to find my strengths and to see myself as a positive tool in navigating my journey. She uses Internal Family Systems, which has
helped me both understand my inner world and how it operates for my well-being,
as well as find my inner core.

I do this work because I believe the gift, the challenge and the calling of being put on this earth is in this journey of human development. Even before  embarking on counseling as a career path, stories and human development had always been at the core of my personal and professional life.

I  have served children in many capacities; as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate for youth in the hands of child services), as a tutor, a mentor, a teacher. I have trailed along with Private Investigators into some fairly dark corners. I spent over a decade as Director of Story Development with an independent film company at Warner Bros pictures. My passion and imagination for the work came out of my fascination with the human condition and motivation. I have always been compelled by the intricacies of human nature and the dynamics of human relationship

As a child, I was that girl who engaged deeply with others; the one  everybody told their secrets to. My circle was diverse; my friends came in all shapes, sizes and colors. I was accepting, supportive, compassionate and trustworthy. I had a sense of adventure mixed with a bit of irreverence. I pushed boundaries. I still do.

I was interested. I still am.

Nancy is the most centered person I've ever met—smart and articulate with a gift for really listening and approaching issues in a way that helps you speak your truth.  Amazing!

"I can't believe that!" said Alice. "One can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day.
"Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
