A bit of my biography . . .
MY DRIVING QUESTION IS ALWAYS WHAT LAYS WITHIN AND BEYOND:
WHAT IS ASKING TO BE BORN?
I did my graduate work in the UK in Biographical Counselling, a soul-spiritual psychology which serves not only as a path of self knowledge, but also as a path of personal and spiritual development. The training had a life transforming quality and further prepared me to meet another person in their totality, to keep in view what is unborn and eternal in them. What I fell in love with when I first met biography was how it took me out of my small minded, repetitive thinking. It offered new avenues for discovery. It unlocked a greater awareness; lead me to a deeper understanding of myself, my potential and humanity as a whole. It was creative without my needing to be an 'artist'. Pursuing this work has revealed a host of inner resources that serve to inform and guide my way.
I have discovered a place of inner connectedness and knowing.
In conjunction with Biography, I have also studied IFS (Internal Family Systems); Hakomi, a mindfulness-centered somatic psychotherapy; Sensorimotor Psychotherapy; Psycho-Physical Therapy; Voice Dialogue; and Sand-tray. All of these modalities access our innate intelligence beyond the stories we tell ourselves, making it possible to reach into greater depths.
I earned my BS in Child Development. I have served children in many capacities; as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate for youth in the hands of child services), as a tutor, a mentor, a teacher. I have always had a particular affinity for the spirited, shy or sensitive child; the misunderstood or mistreated.
Before doing my graduate work I worked as a resource support to Criminal Defense attorneys. I have trailed along with Private Investigators into some fairly dark corners. Nothing surprises me, but that does not mean that everything is as it should be. There are good choices and bad choices-- and then there is developng the capacity to rise to our freedom. This is the gift, the challenge and the calling of what it is to be human.
I spent over a decade as Director of Story Development with an independent film company at Warner Bros. pictures. My passion and imagination for the work came out of my fascination with human motivation -- no matter what the genre. I pursued the truth and focused on the integrity and the morality of those characters and stories.
THERE ARE GOOD CHOICES AND BAD CHOICES --
AND THEN THERE IS DEVELOPING THE CAPACITY TO RISE TO OUR FREEDOM.
My driving question is always what lays within and beyond: what is asking to be born? My personal approach to Counseling is strengths based and future oriented. Fundamentally, I believe we are each and all on a journey of development and that our personal and collective evolution is not only asking, but requires us to participate consciously. I find it moving, magical, inspiring to uncover our truths, discover who we are and who we are being invited to become. What makes this not only possible, but all the better, is walking this path in the meeting with another.
was that girl that everybody told their secrets to. My circle was diverse; my friends came in all shapes, sizes and colors. I was accepting, supportive, compassionate. I had that slight twinkle in my eye; a bit of irreverance mixed with deep curiosity. I pushed boundaries. I was interested. I was trustworthy. I still am.
Stories and human development have been at the core of my personal and professional life. I have always been compelled by the intricacies of human nature and the dynamics of human relationship. I crave integrity. I am devoted to giving what I can to enhance our evolution -- as individuals, as a people, as a planet.
"I can't believe that!" said Alice...One can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day."
Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
